Karksi-Nuia: The host of two Motocross World Championship Series in June

Karksi-Nuia Motocenter awaits all motocross fans on June 13–14, as a single weekend will host World Championship rounds for both Sidecarcross (FIM Sidecarcross World Championship) and Quads (FIM Quad World Championship).

While Estonia has a long history of hosting Sidecarcross World Championship rounds, this marks the first time a World Championship round for Quads will be held here, following previous European Championship events. The Quad World Championship is a new addition to the motorsport world, with this nine-round series being contested for the first time.

This brings the world’s best in both disciplines to Estonia, with Estonian riders expected to be strong contenders in both classes. The weekend at Karksi-Nuia Motocenter rightfully earns the title of “Motofestival,” as races will be accompanied by entertainment, making it a family-friendly event.

The double World Championship weekend is spearheaded by Kert Varik, the 2022 Sidecarcross World Championship silver medalist: “This idea has been spinning in my head for a few years. Estonians have been at the top of the world in these classes and as organizers, so it felt like the groundwork was laid long ago and everything would be ‘super easy.’ Of course, that’s not quite the case; we’ve made major renovations at the Karksi-Nuia Motocenter over the last two years, and work continues.

We are doing this with a long-term goal; currently, we have a three-year agreement to organize World Championship rounds for both series. It warms my heart to receive positive feedback, especially from the older Nuia motormen who come and thank us for doing this.”

Sidecarcross World Championship rounds have been held on various Estonian tracks a total of 26 times, the first in 1997. It has always been a crowd favorite due to its highly attractive nature, requiring perfect cooperation between the rider and the sidecar passenger.

There is plenty to look forward to this time as well—2025 World Champions Koen Hermans and Ben van den Bogaart will be present, along with 3-time World Champion Marvin Vanluchene and Robbe De Veene. From Latvia, the Lielbardis twin brothers are coming to shake things up. Among Estonian riders, the pair Robert Lihtsa and Sebastian Lamp stand out; though competing together for the first year, they could be Top 8 contenders at their home track. They are joined by the Vahter brothers (Kevin Vahter/Kenny Vahter), veteran Ülar Karing with Sten Niitsoo, the Estonian-Latvian tandem Markus Normak/Tomass Dukulis, and many other Estonian riders.

Top American riders, who are leaders in the discipline, are expected for the Quad World Championship round. Competing against the world’s best on their home track will be five-time European Champion Kevin Saar and Karl Robin Rillo.

Kevin Saar: “I am happy to be back in Europe and participating in the new World Championship series. I believe the new series will increase both the number of participants and the overall level. I am highly motivated and, thanks to great sponsors, plan to complete the entire World Championship series to fight for the title! Naturally, I am looking forward to the home round in Karksi-Nuia the most!”

The action at Karksi-Nuia Motocenter doesn’t end with the races on Saturday, June 13. In the evening, the band Traffic will heat up the venue with a live concert, followed by the DJ duo Pätikiisud.

Until April 10, weekend passes for the Sidecarcross and Quad World Championship event at Karksi-Nuia Motocenter can be purchased via Piletilevi for 35 euros. Passes for children (ages 10–16) cost 15 euros, and younger fans enter for free. Daily passes are also available; all passes include the Saturday concert.

The World Championship rounds for Sidecarcross (FIM Sidecarcross World Championship) and Quads (FIM Quad World Championship) take place at Karksi-Nuia Motocenter on June 13–14.
